Twenty UN peacemakers were injured after their base came under fire on Wednesday according to the United Nations mission, they did not state who was responsible. Mahamat Saleh Annadif, head of MINUSMA stated that they have been conducting security operations in this part of Mali for several months. Terrorist group linked to Al-Qaeda has regularly attacked UN peacekeepers and Malian soldiers in this area, which militants use as a base for attacks across the Sahel region south of Sahara Desert. Mahamat Saleh states “These operations disturb the enemies of peace, but we remain committed to stand by the Malians, for the Malians”
